The Whittemore - A .308 Split Chest Rig
Named after the famous Captain Samuel Whittemore, this .308 split rig is designed for the American Minuteman who is ready to take on an entire British Regiment single handedly. While the .308 caliber has a long history of service in combat, hunting and target shooting there seems to be a dearth of supportive gear to get the most one can out of the available weapon platforms. This chest rig is our contribution to hopefully change that.
We decided to build this chest rig as a split rig, because for most of our large caliber friends they will be using a 308 in a more DMR role necessitating a prone position more often. A split rig allows the user to get as low as possible while being as comfortable as possible. This rig is designed from the ground up to be an effective 308 chest rig. We increased the dimensions on the slip pocket to allow you to carry an additional 308 magazine in each slip pocket and we even upsized the GP pouches so you can carry a Magpul 50 round drum magazine in each pocket!

Split front rig connected via buckle - allows to lowest prone profile possible
2 .308 Magazine pouches capable of carrying 2 .308 25 round magazines, 3 AR15 magazines each or 2 AK pattern magazines
GP pouch on each side - can fit a Magpul .308 50 drum magazine or canteen and cup. Also fits our MedInsert and GP Pouch Insert
Elastic loops for TQs on GP Pouches, second set of elastic loops for markers, chem lights, etc…
Slip pocket behind GP pouch for radio or knife - tie down loops at top of slip pocket
Mesh rear pocket on each side for admin items - fits our zipper insert as well
Standard H Harness - sleeve for routing cables and hydration - same H Harness that appears on our Spectre Chest Rig
Pull Forward rear strap - same strap that appears on our Spectre Chest Rig
